Batman was in Candy Land. No, really.

Babysitting can have some fun occurrences. For instance, Batman and Spiderman took over Candy Land.

Aren't baby dolls the best?

Yeah, superheroes, coloring, Candy Land, and babysitting. A good evening.

Eeek!onomics

"Along with the economic sovereignty of the citizens disappears also their political sovereignty. To the unique production plan that annuls any planning on the part of the consumers corresponds in the constitution sphere the one party principle that deprives the citizens of any opportunity to plan the course of public affairs. Freedom is indivisible. He who has not the faculty to choose among various brands of canned food or soap, is also deprived of the power to choose between various political parties and programs and to elect the officeholders. He is no longer a man; he becomes a pawn in the hands of the supreme social engineer. Even his freedom to rear progeny will be taken away by eugenics." Ludwig von Mises in "Liberty and Property" (emphasis mine)

Fall Fashions

I do LOVE fall. Cider, pumpkins, hay bales, warm colors, my birthday ;), and the cutest fashions - Mm! What's not to like? Today was the first day that actually felt like fall. Overcast, windy, and chilly. Right up my alley.

What better to wear to work than a sweater, scarf, dressy pants, and heels?

A good sweater covers most of my hand

Kitten heels
Black N' White is fun too

So, girlies, what is your favorite fall fashion?

Just what is a Palisade?

After some schedule rearranging, Cindy and I made a plan to me to visit and work with her kids on History. Though nervous (and excited), I set off praying that my time with the kids would be a blessing to them, a blessing to Cindy, and (selfishly) a blessing to myself.

And the day went beautifully! History was a blast. The lunch conversation was delightful, and the games were fun (at least for me ;).

Noah, Maggie, and I discussed colonial etiquette: "Do not invite yourself to someone's house. Do not give your advice unless asked for, then be brief." Did grammar: Their, There, or They're... And read books.

Evangelia, Jude, and I played the "PEG"gy Back game. Which is now my favorite game.

All of us played Star Wars. But, perhaps not the tradition version. There was discussion of whether Dooku's name was Darwin. :P

And I learned that pretzels are brain food. :)

Vocab for next week:
Palisade - a fence of pales or stakes set firmly in the ground, as for enclosure or defense.
Trencher -
a rectangular or circular flat piece of wood on which meat, or other food, is served or carved.
BBLS - DOES stand for barrels.

And what was that other word? Hopefully, the kids will remember.

I apologize for the poor picture quality. I forgot my camera. :(

A Tailor

"To be, or not to be: That is the question:" ~Hamlet

I keep hoping my costume will be done in time for the Céilidh ball... Can I do it? Only time will tell. :/ In the meantime, I'm hard away at it.

This is my first time "drawing" my pattern... Thus far, it's been a headache. But, "I shall conquer this!" :D

It is fun to see my own work come together...

I love blue marking pencils.

And a little friend came to "help" with my project.

And yes... I am running out of words for sewing... hence the random blog post title.

It's a Baby Shower!

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3

Babies showers are so much fun! Mom and I had the pleasure of hosting one for Meadow. The planning, cooking, hosting, and fellowship(ing) were delightful!

What fruit slice would you like with your beverage?

Mmm. So much good food!

Good friends with whom to celebrate

Meadow (the new mom) and her mom

Atticus

But, what would a shower be without gifts?

Children truly are a reward.

Congrats Kent & Theresa!

Doesn't the couple look wonderful? Wait. That's not them...

This is... But isn't the picture above impressive?
(I stole this picture from FB, because I didn't have any. Tear!)

The wedding was beautiful! At the reception, crayons were provided, and we drew on the tablecloths. What a fun idea!

With our own messages and well-wishes, we celebrated with the new Mr. and Mrs. Kent K.

And Keely drew the happy couple. (Pictured above.)

Of course, everybody was in their best looks.

Weddings are a great excuse to get dressed up.

Smart clothes were everywhere.

And what would a wedding be without dancing? :)

Congratulations Kent & Theresa! We're all very happy for you!

Prefer reading to cards, do you?

But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. Ecclesiastes 12:12

I am a reader. No doubt about it, but sometimes I just can't read. I don't even want to think about picking up a book.... But, most times, my book stack grows and grows. How about y'all? Any good books lately?

And Floe --> Scarlet is for you. :) I thought that if you had finished Hood, I should start reading Scarlet again, right? Especially since, I don't have The Last Olympian.

Long Overdue: Dancing

Just like last year, the ball committee had a great time at the last summer practice. It was a great success. :O)

Patty Cake, Patty Cake

Baker's Man

Bake me a cake, as fast as you can

Twinkle, Twinkle... Right Hand Star?

London Bridge

The Farmer in the Dell
Nope, no good reason for that caption.
I just like the song. ;)

It wasn't my plan to share the "bubble" pics,
but Ineke loved them.

*grins and giggles*

Grand March

Still Marching...

Still Marching... and doing the "snake"

Go faster?

into the "tunnel"

What to do after a dance practice?

A silly question.

Silly pictures, of course. ;)
