The Best of 2009: Movies

Movies
Julie & Julia
I've seen The Blind Side is theaters twice, and I plan to purchase it on DVD. It is a heartwarming story about faith put into action.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Oh yeah, just one more superhero mention. Wolverine's newest flick is a popcorn movie, but I still *love* it! Sure, I'm a fangirl. :)

~Honorable Mention~
UP
While some consider this simple children's tale sad (and it is), it is also much more. Full of family values -- UP is a treasure.

Disclaimer: None of my "best" picks for 2009 are without flaws. However, I find value in each one. Read some reviews, and you can decide for yourselves. :)

The Best of 2009: Television

Television
Smallville Season 8
You didn't think The Long Halloween would be the only superhero reference in this series, did you? Did you?! Smallville has it's highs and low, but season 8 is *definitely* a high point. Doomsday, Tess, Clois... It's all coming together.

Chuck Season 2
This show about a "millennium every-guy" captured my heart in its first season. While Chuck season 2 is different than season 1, it can still be rollicking, fun, and entertaining. Unleash the Casey.

24 Season 7
24, or more commonly know as "Jack", is my favorite television show. Each year (er, day) I watch Jack battle the unknown terrorist in an effort to defend his homeland. And each time the baddies get bigger and the conspiracies more crazy. And yep, Jack still gets them all. Move over boys, there's a new sheriff in town.

The "Best of 2009" Series

Rather than putting stock in the Oscars, Emmys, or the People Choice Awards... I wanted to share my favorites of 2009 in a few categories:

Books
It's an excellent read for anyone interested in WW2 or the Holocaust. Read with caution; it is a dark tale.

Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham -- Review coming soon?
Voddie Baucham's book is an easy-to-read, encouraging work. I *definitely* recommend it!

The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale
Graphic novels are my new obsession. Tim Sale & Jeph Loeb rule the medium. Don't pick up their novels lightly. You could become hooked.

Note: None of these books were published in 2009, yet I read all of them last year. I hope y'all enjoy them too!

Stay tuned...
