"[No] matter what the personal belief of any one about what is desirable industrially and politically, any one who is interested in peaceful evolution instead of violent and bloody revolution will realize the central position held by a genuinely free educational system in the peaceful development of society and will bend every energy to defeat the enemies, now so numerous and so active, of schools that are free in inquiry, in teaching and learning; that are intellectually and morally free, the only genuine kind of free school, which are our boast." ~John Dewey in his essay "Education and New Social Ideals"
Why does he assume that a revolution is coming? And of course, he posits that anyone who opposes his humanistic educational system must want a violent, bloody revolution. Dewey's educational system focuses not on the individual child, but the society at large ---> making children into the cogs of society. So, how is a government controlled, government regulated, government administrated educational system... "free in inquiry"? "Morally free" needs expanded... Are we thinking the 60's mentality? Yikes. Thoughts, anyone?
*Note: Many people I know were/have been in the public educational system. (My parents included) This post should not in anyway reflect on them... This post is designed to engage John Dewey and his education philosophy.

Smallville Fashionistas
Spring (and Fall?) is the season for jackets and trench coats. And Smallville certainly embraces the trend...
Is Chloe going green? Perhaps in more ways than one? ;)
I love the leather-ish look of her jacket!
And the back!
And Lois is definitely pretty in pink. :)
Don't Clark and Lois look cute?!
If Chloe gets bored with green, she'll switch to red...
Scarves are often seen in the fall, but they can be a lovely addition in the Spring too.
Something light and pretty.
And a classic trench is good for any wardrobe.

Ah! Camera Trouble
According to a good friend of mine, I am a camera killer. Yep, I dropped my digital camera on cement. Aren't I a clever girl? No need to answer that... it's rhetorical.
Do all these ramblings have a purpose? Yep! I'm just letting all you lovely readers know it may be awhile before you see any of my nice photos. :(
Oh, and on another note, when I finally find s'more time, I WILL answer all your wonderful comments. :)

Economics and FDR
"FDR, who embraced 'progressive ideas,' certainly wasn't a thinker. 'Roosevelt responded less to principles than to personalities, and these could be presented best in conversation,' observed historian George Martin. Indeed, FDR appeared to be utterly ignorant of economics. He seemed willing to try practically anything as long as it involved more government control over the economy. He was apparently unaware that such policies had been tried before in many other countries - and failed." ~Jim Powell in FDR's Folly (emphasis mine)

My Newest Little Friends
Having the local, Christian, homeschooling mom's support group meet at my home comes with many blessings. One of these happens to be getting acquainted with the moms themselves... Michele is one of these lovely moms. And I was so flattered when she asked me if I could babysit her kids once a month. I love kiddos! The more, the better. So, pictures had to be shared!
I can't wait until this month's visit. :)

MECHE Skit Practice
One of the many fantabulous activities that happened over Spring Break.... MECHE skit practice!
After the writing and planning, the Deals, Mosses, Martinezs, Kincells, and Powells met to practice our program. With some blunders, hilarious accidents, and food, the night came together. Pictures of the actual night soon to come!
