On this Sabbath Day

~Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face~

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face;
Here would I touch and handle things unseen,
Here grasp with firmer hand th'eternal grace,
And all my weariness upon thee lean.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God,
Here drink with thee the royal wine of heav'n;
Here would I lay aside each earthly load,
Here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

This is the hour of banquet and of song;
This is the heav'nly table spread for me:
Here let me feast, and, feasting, still prolong
The brief, bright hour of fellowship with thee.

I have no help but thine, nor do I need
Another arm save thine to lean upon:
It is enough, my Lord, enough indeed;
My strength is in thy might, thy might alone.

Mine is the sin, but thine the righteousness;
Mine is the guilt, but thine the cleansing blood;
Here is my robe, my refuge, and my peace,
Thy blood, thy righteousness, O Lord my God.

Old Childhood Treasures

Have you ever packed away some of your wonderful, childhood memories in a box? Packed them away in the basement or attic for another day? I have. When we moved, many of my childhood books, toys, and memories were put away. It's been four years since my family moved, and it is time once again to bring out some old friends.

I have really missed my Nancy Drew books, and I was worried about their condition being boxed up in the basement. But, to my great surprise and delight, they emerged unscathed. I can't wait to begin reading them again. I'm sensing a summer marathon in my future. Maybe something to blog about? For now my lovely little collection is setting in my little nook. Oh well, Nancy Drew will have to find a shelf of her own eventually.

Oh, and I found another little treasure.

Graduation Countdown

God has blessed me so much. Today, I went to the Mountainlair to figure out what I need for graduation. Graduation. Wow. It is so strange to think that I will be a college graduate in just a few short months. I'll wear my cap and gown, move my tassel, and receive my diploma. The culmination of 4 years worth of hard work is just around the corner.

I know that in many ways, I'll miss these days. Not in any way will it be a regretful sadness or longing, but my memories will be a fondness for a wonderful time in my life. It was a time of developing, a time of pursuing knowledge, a time of acquiring skills, a time of gaining friendships, and a time of growing in the faith.

I look forward to the new chapter of my life... All the adventures, excitement, fun, and responsibility that this next phase brings. Let's Go Mountaineers!

Quote of the Day

Where so many hours have been spent in convincing myself that I am right, is there not some reason to fear I may be wrong?

Winter Fever

This is what I dislike about winter... No dancing! With chilly conditions and no great indoor facility available, dancing is usually not an option.

And I miss it so much. Lively music & excellent company create practically, perfect afternoons!

*Sigh* Only a few more months, right?

Until then, I'll enjoy my hot cocoa and coffee... Looking at my pictures of a lovely, fall afternoon. :)

More Economic Food for Thought

“The wise and correct course to follow in taxation is not to destroy those who have already secured success, but to create conditions under which everyone will have a better chance to be successful.” ~Calvin Coolidge

The Last Son of Krypton

Four years ago, one of my favorite superheroes was in his first feature film in two decades. Unfortunately, this film largely failed in the eyes of critics and fans alike. Perhaps director Bryan Singer should have taken the franchise in a new direction rather than resume the Christopher Reeve storyline. Or perhaps Superman needed to be involved in an epic battle -- rather than lift the mountain of kryptonite. Or maybe Lex Luthor should have been replaced with Doomsday or Bizzaro. Or still yet, perhaps Superman should never have conceived a child. Whatever the reason, the film failed.

But, sitting here tonight watching a Superhero that I adore, I really hope he gets another chance. Despite all its flaws, I love this movie. Brandon Routh *is* Superman. He pulls off the role with remarkable strength. The audience can see his pain and struggle as Clark - and his depth of character as Superman. And while Kate Bosworth is not my favorite Lois Lane, she and Routh have great chemistry. Superman is a great hero. He is what all the other superheroes aspire to be...

So my question is: Where has he gone? Please come back, Superman. We're ready for another go.

CAP Day

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to lobby for homeschooling with HSLDA. It was a fantastic experience! God has blessed our nation so very much; we can visit our leaders and speak with them about the law of our land.

Armed with a new statistical, homeschool study by Dr. Ray, the Kincell family and I went to several offices and met with several staffers. It was a unique experience; I loved meeting people from all over the country and representing homeschooling to them.

Lobbying on behalf of homeschooling and parental rights is a great privilege and responsibility. I confess that I was quite nervous, but with the help of my friends, I was never far off course. With some practice (and I plan on going again), I could become quite familiar and comfortable! And I encourage all of you to speak to your representatives at the local, state, and federal level. Liberty once lost is hard to regain. It is our duty to provide for our children (or future children), and this includes freedoms.

If you would like to learn more about homeschooling or parental rights... Please post a comment, or check out the websites.
